A picnic for Pivarnik

Monday, Sept. 17 was Jim Pivarnik’s last day as the Port’s executive director. So, past and present Port Commissioners, business associates and staff threw him a going-away party in the Port of Kingston Kiwanis Park. The event was catered by a new Kingston business, Hot Dogs at the Cove. The owners, Jeannie Krahn-Cockle and her husband, Rod, generously donated the all-beef hot dogs, fixings, drinks, chips and hand-dipped chocolate ice cream bars for the event.

Pivarnik was leaving Kingston to serve as interim executive director of the Port of Port Townsend. “I was very happy here in Kingston and planned to stay until I retired at the end of 2019,” Pivarnik told the crowd. “But Port Townsend is my home and they said they needed me to come back and give them a hand.”
