Crowning Touch

Rick Lanning of Homeland Construction installs the finishing touch: a copper blue heron weather vane, atop the gazebo in the Port's new park on Washington. Blvd. Homeland Construction is a subcontractor of VET Industrial which is managing the project.

July 25 2018--This morning, workers installed a weather vane, complete with a copper sculpture of a blue heron, atop the gazebo in the Port's new park on Washington Blvd. Except for signage, the new park is complete. Plans call for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid-August, once the grass turf can be walked on.

Protecting and celebrating nature is an important park of the Port's mission. A heron also appears on the new 'Port of Kingston' sign that welcomes guests to the marina. The Port currently offers more marine waterfront green space than any other Kitsap public port.
