July 10 2018--This morning a Kitsap Sun reporter and photographer came to take photos and do a story on the work being done on the Kitsap Transit fast ferry passenger terminal and to interview Rick Lanning, owner of Homeland Construction, which is doing the renovation work.
The interior of the terminal sports mahogany paneling, carpeted floor and a white paneled ceiling, evoking the feel of the interior of a classic mosquito fleet ferry.
The terminal is slated to be completed in the next several weeks, about the same time as the mooring barge will be towed to Foss Maritime in Seattle for renovation. The barge work is expected to take eight to 10 weeks. Work on the ferry boat itself is projected to be done in October, according to Kitsap Transit officials.
